This update comes a bit later than I had hoped. But as we close out yet another calendar year and begin a fresh start to a new one, the timing also seems appropriate.
I wanted to use this first post as an introduction of myself and the two other colleagues who have come forward to take on DeIce leadership roles. I’m currently the Director of Instructional Technology for Valley View School District 365U. This is my third year serving the 2,000+ staff and 18,000+ students in this K-12 school district that covers Bolingbrook and Romeoville. Prior to coming to Valley View School District, I was the Director of Technology for LaGrange School District 105 in LaGrange, IL. I started my teaching career in District 105 and moved into the tech department after three years of teaching.
The position of Vice-President has been filled by Dave Seiden. Dave is a fellow member of the Valley View School District technology staff member and his official title is Information & Software Specialist. Dave is a former middle school math teacher and an extremely talented individual, especially in the area of data management.
The position of Secretary has been filled by Astrid Welch. Astrid is also a member of the Valley View School District technology staff. She is the district’s Operations Manager and is responsible for managing the district’s 6000+ computers, our field technicians, and the Helpdesk Center. Astrid will be a great asset to the team and will be able to offer insight into the deployment and support aspects of integrating educational technology in schools.
As you can see, our leadership team is currently occupied by members of the Valley View School District technology staff. However, it’s our hope that increased participation by members of this chapter of ICE will allow us to transition in new leadership members in the coming years. That said, our meeting dates for the coming months are as follows:
