Get the Inside Scoop On What's New @ CPS Techwise from CIO Arshele Stevens

I know you've all got this on your calendars already (and have already sent in your RSVP and questions), but as a reminder:

The first ICECAP meeting of the year is Thursday October 8th at 4PM at the Elizabeth Training Facility (320 N. Elizabeth St.).   Our special guest will be Ms. Arshele Stevens, the Chicago Public School’s Chief Information Officer, who will share with us what's new at CPS tech-wise.

As a bonus, food and beverages will be served!

We're looking forward to seeing you at the event.  If possible, please RSVP so that we can have an idea of how many snacks we should have on hand. 

Present at ICE! (The Deadline Approaches Quickly)

While the ICE conference isn't until after the new year (Feb 26-28, 2010), the deadline for submitting session proposals is fast approaching!   The Deadline for General Session Proposals is October 1, 2009.  If you're interested in presenting a poster session, you have a little more time as the deadline is November 1, 2009.

I don't think there's any/much give in these deadlines, so make some time soon to share your successes (and challenges) using technology with the community of Illinois Computing Educators!

Keep the ICE Connection Warm, Submit to the Newsletter

Don't let the ICE Conference buzz wear off!   You can keep the good vibes going, and practice for your 2010 presentation, by submitting something to the ICE CUBE newsletter by March 15. 

The next newsletter's theme will be "“Managing and Using Digital Images" and will include all sorts of tips, tricks, and classroom project ideas.  After all ICE gave you during the conference, now's your chance to give back!

Excel, an application you already have, will be used in ways that will increase the understanding of spreadsheets and data manipulation. In this session, participants will discover how spreadsheet functions and formulas, conditional formatting, and data validation make it easy to develop activities that are fun as well as educational.
