ICECAP Meeting: November 18th @ Whitney Young

We'd like to invite you to join ICECAP at our next meeting!

We'll be at Whitney Young on November 18th from 4 to 6PM.   The more the merrier!

Here's the blurb and the map:

Learn how to create high interest games, interactive quizzes, and realistic simulations using Microsoft Excel! Excel, an application you already have, will be used in ways that will increase the understanding of spreadsheets and data manipulation. In this session, participants will discover how spreadsheet functions and formulas, conditional formatting, and data validation make it easy to develop activities that are fun as well as educational.

Happy Day After the Election!

Does anyone have any good election stories to share?

I helped run a K-4 mock election and had to field some tough questions about electronic voting!  The kids were wondering what would happen if the computer broke down.   Without using the exact right words, they clearly wanted a paper ballot backup and an audit trail!   I was impressed.

We used google forms for our electronic voting and everyone in the school was impressed by the instantaneousness of the analytics (choose "show analysis" from the menu).  All in all, a grand time!

If you've got an election story or project from your school that you'd like to share, please leave a comment.

How is it November Already?! (And Pictures from the last ICECAP Meeting)

How is it November already?

Somewhere in all the anticipation for the election, ICECAP blog posts slowed to a "monthly" pace rather than the intended "weekly" pace. Sorry! :(

Well, it's time to get back on the blog wagon! Here are some pictures from the first ICECAP Meeting of the year featuring Robert Runcie, the CIO of the Chicago Public Schools, and his staff.
