Upcoming Information on Conference's coming to the QC

STEM Conference in QC Area

The Illinois Math and Science Academy will be hosting a Community STEM Conference on Tuesday January 24, 2012  (5-7 pm) at the Rock Island Center for Math and Sciences (a RISD41 grade school).  This conference is open to students of all ages, educators and community members.  Anyone from throughout the Quad Cities greater area is welcome to attend.  IMSA is seeking presenters and attendees for this event.

Quad Cities area Students Involved with Technology Conference

The first annual QC SIT Conference will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2012 at Glenview Middle School in East Moline.  This unique all day technology conference is for students and presented by students.  Visit http://www.sitconference.org

Students Involved with Technology Conferences have been happening around the state of Illinois for more than a dozen years.  This is the first time it has been brought to the greater Quad Cities area.  The conference is open for all to attend, regardless of the community in which you live.  We are seeking student presenters, adult mentors, student attendees and volunteers.  Since this is our first of many SIT conferences, seating is limited to the first 150 students who register.  

Pease help spread the word to your local educational community and personal networks (churches, scouting, clubs, businesses, etc.).

Some of you may be having difficulties signing up as volunteers for the SIT Conference. Please contact Ginger Long for a form to submit as an email and attach. Send it to info@sitconference.org. All committee members who plan to be at the event must sign up through this process. If you will only be available to help the night before with set up, I will still need you to complete the registration form.If you have students that you are going to register for the SIT Conference please do so soon! Please go to www.riroe.com and click on "Teacher Resources" then click on "professional development" and go to click on "technology" you can download/open/print a copy of the newsletter and registration form for the conference. FREE!!!!! Mobile and Mini Computing Devices in the Classroom

Sept 19, 2011 from 4-6 PM at ROE Moline
Join us and see what you can do with an iPad or iPod in the classroom.  Three local districts (Carbon Cliff, Erie, and Geneseo) will share their 1:1 implementation stories in a round table discussion during the first hour.  A concurrent session, Introduction to the iPad and iPod will demonstrate their basic operating system, the iTunes Apps. Store, and how to change settings to meet your individual needs.  The second hour will include two breakouts to discuss implementing mini or mobile devices in the classroom based on instrutional level.  Registration is required through Julie at the ROE please call 736-1111 or email her at julie.cox@riroe.com to reserve your seat.  Cost is Free!

Mark your Calendars Third Annual RICE Mini-Conference Saturday, January 21, 2012

This year RICE brings guest speaker, Terri Rossman, previous ICE Outstanding Educational Technologist of the Year Award winner.  The RICE Mini Conference will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 8 AM - NOON.  This year's event will take place at United Township High School (UTHS) East Moline.

Choose from 9 sessions offered over 3 hours featuring educational applications of technology hardware, software, Web 2 Tools and more.  Presenters are planned to provide breakout sessions on whiteboards, mini computing, photography, web design and more.

A continental breakfast and snacks will be provided.  Door prizes will also be given out at the end of the morning.  Cost is $10 for RICE members and $20 for non-RICE members.  Registration will be through the RIROE.  Watch for more details on the ROE website and newsletter along with the RICE website and blog.
