The dictionary defines a medley as a varied mixture of people or things: an interesting medley of flavors. What medley do you create when you want to learn something new?
The New York Times published an article recently on some free resources to explore
One of the suggestions is iTunes U. iTunes U also includes a specific K-12 section. For example, Michigan features videos on using Sketchup in the geometry classroom.
Of course you can also learn SketchUp from the Google support page. There is a great variety of basic and more advanced topics. Twitter them @sketchup
YouTube also features a great collection of videos on Sketchup.
There are times that you want an instructor, a guide or perhaps a group of folks to collaborate with on your learning journey. 3DVinci by Bonnie Roskes has a fantastic collection of resources and also will be offering a series of summer classes on Sketchup through Capital Region Society for Technology in Education. These virtual workshops are offered in elluminate. (Or do them in person if you’ll be in DC in July!)
Communities of educators like Classroom 2.0 provide additional examples on using these tools in the classroom. The “search other Nings” box also quickly shares additional nings with a Sketchup interest.
What are you interested in exploring this summer? Follow the path I did with Sketchup and find the communities, sessions and resources that will support your PLN for the summer.
